Everything I learned in life I learned from stuff on the side of the road

I was out on a run last weekend along a country road, and I came upon a fork in the road. I could go to the right, and take the fairly flat and easy route. Or, I could go left, where the big nasty hill is. I also started to realize that there are a lot of life lessons in the things you see on the side of the road that you see during a run.

The crossroads. One path is easy, one path is hard. What do you choose?

The crossroads. One path is easy, one path is hard. What do you choose?

There are times in life that taking the easy route is a good thing. There are times when you need a break, and you need to take it easy.  Taking the easy path is better than giving up and going home. But there are times when you need to take the hard route. When you need to push yourself to the limit to get the job done, often the rewards are that much higher.

Also in life you have to deal with a lot of bull.

Okay, the sign is of a girl cow, but still bull.... stuff is always there.

And there are things that will get in your way and slow you down.

Slow moving things may get in your way.

Slow moving things may get in your way.

Sometime the path to your goal will seem confining,

Sometimes things will get tight when you are trying to reach your goal

Sometimes meeting your goal will be confining.

Or it will be an uphill battle,

The hill may be long, but you will gain strength along the way

Somebody may poke holes in your plan,

Often lots of people will poke holes in your plan

Often lots of people will poke holes in your plan

And you may feel old and rundown,

This old run down barn is still standing strong.

There will be some twists and turns that will cause you to slow down,

Your path will probably not be straight and will turn around obstacles.

You may need people to share in your experience,

Sharing is caring

Sometimes stop and smell the roses (or whatever these flowers I found on the side of the road),

Stop and smell the... whatever the heck these things are.

Stop and smell the… whatever the heck these things are.

Enjoy the view,

Enjoy the ride, take in the sights.

Enjoy the ride, take in the sights.

Be sure you always have firm ground to stand on.

Land is a good thing.

Land is a good thing.

And when you are done, you can stand tall and proud.

When you finish your goal, you can stand proud like the mighty oak.
