I was out on a run last weekend along a country road, and I came upon a fork in the road. I could go to the right, and take the fairly flat and easy route. Or, I could go left, where the big nasty hill is. I also started to realize that there are a lot of life lessons in the things you see on the side of the road that you see during a run.
There are times in life that taking the easy route is a good thing. There are times when you need a break, and you need to take it easy. Taking the easy path is better than giving up and going home. But there are times when you need to take the hard route. When you need to push yourself to the limit to get the job done, often the rewards are that much higher.
Also in life you have to deal with a lot of bull.
And there are things that will get in your way and slow you down.
Sometime the path to your goal will seem confining,
Or it will be an uphill battle,
Somebody may poke holes in your plan,
And you may feel old and rundown,
There will be some twists and turns that will cause you to slow down,
You may need people to share in your experience,
Sometimes stop and smell the roses (or whatever these flowers I found on the side of the road),
Enjoy the view,
Be sure you always have firm ground to stand on.
And when you are done, you can stand tall and proud.
